Last night at the Diocese of Massachusetts' Diocesan Convention, just before we began the Eucharist to celebrate the rededication of the cathedral and the seating of the new bishop, Alan Gates, there was an announcement of what was happening in Paris.
I haven't prayed that intensely in some time.
Needless to say, we all prayed. I assume that many, like me, continued to pray for the situation, for France, for peace, all throughout the service and beyond. And this prayer continued throughout today's convention.
We sang "Peace, Salaam, Shalom" together, over and over. It didn't sound quite like the chorus below, but it was beautiful and heartfelt prayer. May we all continue to pray it not only with our lips, but in our lives.
Evite le mal, fais ce qui est bien,
poursuis la paix, recherche-la.
